UPOR registration begins in Mysore urban

As the state government takes a big technological leap in registration of urban properties through Urban Property Ownership Records (UPOR), Mysore, Shimoga and Hubli-Dharwad are in the forefront in registration. The ownership enquiry process is going on a fast pace in these towns.

Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda inaugurated a citizen service centre at the UPOR office at Nazarbad here on Saturday, in a bid to hasten the process of UPOR registration in city.

In his inaugural address, Gowda said the model had been adopted from Scotland's (England) experience and the success of Bhoomi project. "So far, there was no proper digital details on the urban properties.


The state has made headway in registration of rural RTCs. A similar success will be replicated through UPOR to benefit the citizens and property owners," the chief minister said.





Field survey


An official told this newspaper that the field survey of properties has been fully completed in Mysore and Shimoga. There will be more facilitation centres opened in the coming days where citizens can provide documents to proof of the ownership of their property. Special camps will also be set up for the purpose.


According to UPOR officials, a property owner should check or inquire whether his property for which UPOR card is required is within the jurisdiction of UPOR project's area of interest.


To get a UPOR card, the owners should submit a copy of property records to UPOR office for verification through Title Enquiry.


The properties have been classified into various categories based on the developmental agency like MUDA properties, Gramathana, Ashraya layout and Janatha colony properties, layouts developed by private persons or agencies, properties in housing board layouts, properties on converted/alienated lands but layouts not got approved, properties in agricultural survey numbers – revenue sites, properties on government owned lands – with survey numbers, properties in KIADB/industrial estate or lands used for agricultural purposes. The documents to be submitted depend on the category to which the property belongs to, an UPOR officer said.


For details citizens can visit the UPOR city survey office, besides government guest house, near Mini Vidhana Soudha, Nazarbad, Mysore or Citizen Service Centre, KHB complex, Nrupathunga Road, Kuvempunagar.


Get UPOR card


•   Supply all documents and clarifications to Enquiry Officer, attend objection hearing if called for
•   Cooperate with department officials and service provider for the field survey
•   Visit citizen service centre for registration of finger prints for future verification
•   Collect UPOR card on payment of fees

Bring to notice of UPOR authorities about changes in ownership


•   Through sale, through registered sale deed
•   Partition of property within the family
•   Inheritance after the death of owner
